The new Gökova Ören Marina lies in the southwest corner of Turkey, right at the entrance of the Gulf of Gökova. It boasts the most enchanting and famous coastline of Turkey and all Mediterranean.
The town of Ören is located on the northern coast of the Gökova Gulf, only at 40 kilometers distance from the Milas district of Muğla. Leaning against a crag, the town that is built on the ancient settlement of Keramos, lies on the alluvial plains of Kocaçay.
Until the 1990s, the local economy was largely dependent on agriculture with products like citrus, sesame, tobacco, cotton and cereals. Livestock and textile(carpet, rug, silk, cloth, etc.) industries were also prominent but these were slowly but surely replaced by tourism. By the 1990s, with the development of tourism-oriented businesses including hotels, restaurants, yachting and entertainment facilities started to contribute to local economy.
The Gökova Gulf is an inland sea and is home to the highest variety of marine species in Turkey. A portion of the local population still makes a living by fishing. The Town of Ören has a population of about 4,500, amounting up to 9,000 with nearby villages. During the tourism season in summer, this number can rise to 30,000.
The Town of Ören is under the influence of the Mediterranean climate. Average temperature throughout the year is 20°C, reaching 32-34°C in the summer months and rarely dropping below 10°C during winter days. Water temperature is around 22°C degrees during the season.
The marina covers an area of 218,000 m2 and has a mooring capacity of 416 with a drydock capacity of 130. It serves yachts of 8 to 30 meters in length.
