ACI Marina Rab

ACI Marina Rab is open from Easter through mid-October. It is located on the eastern side of the Rab harbor, right behind the breakwater.

This island is full of wonderful natural diversity and gorgeous beaches, cultural monuments dating to before the Romans and it is rich in history. Besides, it is home to two ACI marinas – Rab and Supetarska Draga. ACI Marina Rab adds to the charm of its namesake town, which is Rab Island’s largest population centre. Rab has been popular for its culture and tradition of education and art for centuries. The marina is right in the town harbour with a lot to offer to boaters, ranging from a restaurant to a maintenance and repairs shop. The inland of the island is just as beautiful as its coast: with 35 percent covered in forest and fertile land, making it the second greenest Croatian island, after Mljet.

The island has plenty of fish and is home to ancient trading routes, numerous medicinal herbs, the bountiful fruits of fertile fields, vineyards and olive grove. Combined with the traditional friendliness and hospitality of the local people, Rab remains a popular destination all year round. Organized tourism is not new on this island; it is being practiced since the late 19th century. So you will find that the locals will always do their best to please each and every traveller.

Known in Latin as Felix Arba, the island and the town of Rab, have been home to uninterrupted settlement since prehistoric times. In the works of Pliny and Ptolemy as well as many ancient cartographers, Rab mentioned as an Illyrian stronghold. Ancient Rab is known to have a water supply system, baths, temples, a theatre, and a network of streets.

We know many important historical figures who come from Rab. St. Marin, the founder of the Republic of San Marino; Markantun de Dominis, a brilliant theologian and physicist; and Ivan Rabljanin, the great bell and cannon founder in the service of the Republic of Dubrovnik are among the most well-known.

Mooring: The marina has 142 berths (seasonal, marina is open from 01.04 to 31.10). It gets a lot of sea traffic and space can be limited. The marina is protected by a breakwater. However, the sirocco causes a strong swell in the harbor.

Sightseeing: The town of Rab is on the western coast of the island of Rab , located between the islands of Krk and Pag in the northern Adriatic. The town is located on a peninsula between cove of St. Fumia and the port of Rab. You will see that it is surrounded by lush greenery and breath taking beaches. Rab also has a long and rich history, which gives the visitors many historical sites to see. To name a few; the Prince's Palace from the 13th century, the church of St. Mary the Great and the church of St. Justa built between 1573 and 1578 are mojor tourist attractions. You shouldn’t miss Supetarska Draga, Lopar or Barbat na Rabu when you’re on the island.

Approach: From the sea, the town of Rab can be spotted by the town walls and four bell towers. Sailors can approach Rab harbor between Cape Frkanj, with a red lighthouse (Fl R 2s 5m 4M) and Frkanj Shoal, marked with a green lighthouse on a concrete pediment (Fl G 2s 6m 4M). The exact position of Frkanj Shoal is 44°44.9’ N 14°45.5’ E. It is also possible to round the shoal on the southeast. The harbor entrance is marked by a red lighthouse on Cape Sv. Ante (Fl R 1,5s 7m 3M) and a green lighthouse on Tunera Islet (Fl G 2s 14m 4M). There are shallows in the vicinity of Tunera, so it is best to sail closer to the red lighthouse. ACI Marina Rab is located in Rab Bay extending southeast-northwest. The marina is protected by a breakwater with a green lighthouse (Fl G 1,5s 7m 4M) on its edge. During strong jugo (south) winds it is not recommended to moor in the town harbour. The speed limit in the entrance channel is 3 knots for all vessels. All the western ends of the marina’s piers are lit.
